Susquehanna River, York Co., 9/27/14

Fished the susquehanna from shore yesterday for about 2 hours looking for carp. Conditions for sight fishing were very good. The rain didn't do anything to raise the river, so it was super low and clear with no wind. When the full sun was up the fish were super spooky, especially the bass. Eventually, as the sun got lower the fish relaxed a little and I got one good carp to eat. I was a little shocked at how slow it's first run was It was like it didn't even know or really care it was hooked. It just made a low slow run. It did put me into my backing repeatedly before coming to hand. It took a Mike's Gorgon Craw with chain eyes. I'm not sure how much it weighed, but it was so fat that i could barely lift it. I guess carp bulk up for winter too.

Yeah the carp in the sus q are big. I don't weigh them or even have a scale, but i doubt i've caught one under 10lbs. It's actually kind of odd, I don't even see small carp really. It's like the are hatched out weighing 10lbs. Where are the juveniles and why don't i ever see them?
