Fished the sus q this past weekend. The white fly hatch near wrightsville has already peaked and is winding down. The fishing always seems to be tougher during the white fly hatch. My theory is that the overabundance of food sources gives the fish no reason to feed aggressively. I still managed two decent sized healthy bass in about 4 hours of fishing. One on a clouser and another after dark on a white gurgler. The white flies started coming off around 9, but no fish started rising until almost 10. I'm assuming the fish were waiting for the spinner fall. Not a lot of fish rising, but enough.

I tried for some carp but they were all super spooky so i could barely even get a cast off for them. I've heard guys are starting to bow fish the area which probably makes them a lot edgier. I also saw a YOY bass in the shallows with a large sore/lesion.

Icy thanks for the report. I fished the same area around 2 weeks ago and only caught 1 smallie. I went there to target carp and usually do pretty well but found them to be super spooky as well.
