Support Stream Reports

Hi Gang,

If you are reading this you are looking at other stream reports trying to seeing what is happening across the regional waters. If you are reading Stream Reports from other people I ask that when you come back from your trip on the waters put yours up.

Stream Reports are not about spot burning they are about sharing stream conditions. We don't need GPS locations of holes. Most importantly what hatches are happening, conditions and where? I have a set of suggested guidelines on what to write - here. Offer some details on your angling success or skunks is nice, but not required.

I see this as a historical record of hatches across the region. If you are reading them, put one back when you return! We did a real good job last year lets do it again!

Thanks for the kind words Dave. Truthfully, a lot of my trip planning comes from historic stream report data from this forum. The observations put forth by historic reports are often consistent what you end up seeing in the present. Not always, but more often than not, especially when the water and weather aligns to a degree.

I am not a darn good angler, I've been fortunate to fish next to some brilliant fisherman from this site and some other friends that have helped me along the way. Dave Weaver is a prime example, we've unfortunately disconnected from fishing together of late, but I learned more about fly fishing Pa in the few seasons that we fished together than I could in any book or through years and years of on stream experience. His lessons on approaching CV trout have resulted in 90 percent of the larger trout that I have taken in the limestoners. Those who know him from this site have an idea of his knowledge base, but honestly I think he falls in the category of one of the most knowledgable unknown anglers in the state. Put it this way, I would take a day on the stream with him over a day with any of the so called "Pros." I think krayfish may fall into that category as well based on reputation, but I've never had the fortune to fish with him to say one way or the other.

Regardless, thanks for assembling this site. And as long as I am still fishing, I will be posting stream reports to the pleasure of some and the dismay of others. I never agreed with the spot burner logic, but I try not to fish one spot to the point that I would be upset if it were burned. Heck, they put a fly shop on my home stream that has tripled and quadruped the stream traffic. If there are too many people, I like walking the stream and spotting risers and fish for the newbies, and I still have my days of solitude out there from time to time. There is enough other stress in the world to be getting worked up over a couple guys fishing your honey hole.

I want to thank everyone this season that has put in a stream report. This is one of my favorite parts of the site and really enjoy hearing about what is going on across the region. It is not just a resource for those that are looking for current conditions, but very important educational and historical database.

Again, I want to thank everyone that has made the effort to add a stream report over the last year. Sharing all aspects of the sport is great and stream reports in this forum are a way of giving back to the community here!

Stream reports are about hatches, water conditions and of course maybe even a little fun you had on the stream.

If you are looking here and getting some good data that helps you in your angling, please add a report when you get back from your next fly fishing trip. The site is free, your obligation is to give back.
