Fished the Stony Creek in Somerset county today in the town of Hollsopple. I arrived around 6:45 and observed the one other fisherman on the bank for about fifteen minutes. The sky was slightly overcast with sunny breaks every ten or so minutes, and the air temperature was around 65 degrees. The waterflow was slightly above average, I would guess close to 1 ft. above normal flow and only slightly off-color. Sulphurs were coming off when I arrived, and there were also some caddis in the air as well. Fish were rising like crazy. I attempted first a parachute sulphur pattern in a #14 and failed to catch any fish or even get a hit. I switched to a sulphur dun in a #12 and caught one holdover brown about 15". I had several other hits on the sulphur dun in #12 and #16. I also had several hits on a parachute ant in a size 18. Attempted a BH hare's ear and a BH pheasant tail with little success. I had three hits for sure on them. All in all I fished for about 1 hour and caught one holdover brow, and also hooked and missed several small rainbows. Tried to cover all my bases here as well as I could. This is my first stream report so let me know if I left anything out! I didn't have a way to measure the water temp so I can't help you there, sorry! Also, I wish I had pics but I couldn't get to my phone. Next time I will be sure to get some pictures!
