For some reason I am actually considering putting a fair amount of effort into it this year, which I have never really done. I don’t think I have ever went up more than twice a year, and it's been 10 years or so since that happened. I am within distance of making it a day trip (barely) so I am going to try to squeeze in more often to see if I actually have it in me or not.

Reflecting on this post since someone brought the thread back......

I went steelheading one time this season It was very cold. The water was extremely low and the crowds were sickening. I caught zero fish and remembered why I'm not a fan.

I dont want to spot burn...cuz those steelies never move from where they were put in at after the egg stripping. Just like the steelies they stay in one hole all fall n winter lol lol lol lol lol

Meh, its more like its easy enough to figure out on your own. There will literally be 200 fish in a hole that weren't there yesterday. And its during a point of the year where the fish are spread out. Additionally, when they are done from the egg stripping, its like they are in a weakened state. You may catch em, but its not the same. No secrets in Erie, unfortunately. Unless you have a buddy with private property access.

I used to be there daily. Had a wonderful job that was second/third shift, so I could get out midweek and have the streams to myself. Only have seen a handful of coho caught in elk! Those were the days.

Yes they were the days!! I remember them well. And, the crowds were conspicuous less during the week.
