I never understood all of the hate towards fishing a squirmy wormy, but I assumed it only existed online - that was, until this Saturday when a couple of guys fishing upstream of me walked by along the bank and asked what I was catching them on. When I told them I was using a hopper dropper with a squirmy, they both rolled their eyes and said something along the lines of "why don't you use a real fly?"
I laughed it off and said "if it works, it works" but when trying to explain to my wife why there was so much vitriol towards the squirmy wormy, I was kind of befuddled. Is it because the silicone material isn't "natural"? Is it because worms aren't flies? Curious to hear all of your thoughts.
