I had a nice day. The Grannom caddis were everywhere. I caught 3 early in the morning maybe half a mile upstrem of the town of Spruce Creek. Stopped in to Spruce Creek Outfitters late morning and got some of their recommended Grannom pattern. Went up to the Joe Humpfries (Penn State) section on Spruce Creek and caught some truly wild browns mid-day. The rain came earlier than I expected, so my last part of the day in the "Rothrock" section above Baree was not as good as it could have been. The rain put the fish down, or it could have been one of "those" days!

One day in the fall I made a trip and when I got there it was pouring. I sat in the car for a half hour, it slowed and I got out and began fishing in sprinkles and then it broke loose again. I hunkered down under my raincoat along the stream for 30 minutes and it stopped. Immediately, fish began to rise. I picked up three fish in about 10 minutes and then it started pouring again...I sat again for 40 minutes and it stopped again and I caught another two before it started pouring again. I gave up that time. But I made the best of the 2.5 hour drive even though the rain wanted me to quit. I fished wor less than a half hour.

Funny thing was the stream never muddied. It must have been localized right above my head.

It probably rained on me for 4 hours before I finally called it a day. I never noticed the stream rising or discoloring. The crik sure did rise though after I left LittleJ USGS Gage. I think there is more lag in stream response on a bigger water like this. I also noticed that the fish would start rising again whenever there was a slow-down in the rain.

Be happy you didnt get in the spill from the sewer plant , that or the leak . DEP still not sure exactly what it was and if its still in there ...
