Water temp 52 degrees, air temp low 50's. The creek was a little low, the little bit of rain we got raised it a little but it runs clear. It was very windy which made casting quite a task. Fished from 1:00-2:00pm Brought a couple dozen to hand, and lost or missed close to that many again. Sulphurs, tan caddis, and midges were comming off. I fished sulphurs and caddis dries, had a good time. :-D Here's a couple of pics, the one's a little washed out.

You Sir must be one helluva fly fisherman to not only land "a couple of dozen" in two hours but also to have "lost or missed close to that many". That's like almost one fish every three minutes.

I'd like to fish with you someday so I could learn how to fish that well! Very impressive.

No,I'm not that good it was one of those times where you could do no wrong. There were so many fish rising around me that you lost track trying to count them, heck I was hooking trout two feet in front of me. At times the water as far upstream as you could see to the bend looked like it was boiling. They were rising right next to me, you could almost grab them. As fast as I could cast back out I was missing or on fish, I could'nt believe it. I just think it was one of those godsend times that one is lucky to have happen. And add to this that spring creek has a very high population of trout.

WOW! Why on earth did you quit at 3:00? I think I would have fished until dark and dealt with impending issues later. That sounds like a flyfisherman dream come true.

I had to leave to get my son to his ball game at 4:30, being his only way there, there was no choice. I was almost in tears leaving in the middle of something I knew I was probably never going to have happen again, listening to the rises as I left did'nt help either. Yes, for me it was a dream come true...

Those ball games are really important too. The years slip away from you before you even know what happened. Never pass up the opportunity to be there for your kids. Good call and a most memorable afternoon of flyfishing as well. I guess you could call that the best of both worlds!

Agreed...

Never pass up the opportunity to be there for your kids.
I guess you could call that the best of both worlds!

Best of both worlds would be:

You could have called your wife and asked her to take the kid? Or a neighbor?
Best bet! you could take your son fly fishing with you? He would much rather go fly fishing with dad then be dropped at a stinkin' game with all those gay coaches.
I always took my kids with me to the fun times. Now I have a close loving relationship with them.
Kids are only young once...... what a thrill he would have had if he also caught a couple dozen rising trout with dad cheering him on?

In a perfect world that would work but... My wife and neighbor's all work, Brett would have loved that but... he was in school. We go hunting and fishing quite often, got off work early and dad saw the chance to get some me time so I grabbed it, does'nt happen to often with two children both in sports and orchestra. Got to get it when you can ya know. The boy does'nt get "dropped" at his games, dad's there even though I feel a nice buck's going to be under my stand in archery, or a hatch is popping. Thanks for your concern though. 🙂

haha, nice 1 wt.......I played baseball for 12 years as a youngster, many summers lost, kinda like the southpark episode where randy saves the day by fighting other parents. wish we had a dad on the team like that... i actually quit my senior yr of high school and my parents said i would regret it, I regret not quitting earlier. Much rather would have been doing something else, fly fishing, learning other crafts more valuable to real life. Instead i got a bum pitching wrist and two bad ankles
