Spring Creek Centre County PA 9/1/2014

Fished the Benner Springs stretch from 1pm until 5. Weather was overcast with occasional showers. Water had a tint but not high. Talked with a younger guy that was on his way out and said he had some luck with tricos and olives earlier in the morning.

For me it was strickly a nymphing day. I saw only one rise all day and only a few stray olives. I fished a three fly rig of a bh green weenie, cress bug and wet black ant. All three flies took fish. The weenie and cress bug out produced the ant though.

Spring never ceases to amaze me in the fact that you'll find fish in even the most unlikely places and you can't over look water...my best fish was hugging the bank beneath an over hanging tree limb in less than six inches of water.

Between 12 and 15 beautful wild browns made for a perfect Labor Day.

How did you present to that fish? Were you blind casting to the shore, or did you spot it and reset your rig for that type of water? I find it hard to get a decent drift with my nymph rigs in those situations on Spring, especially when I'm set up to fish more typical nymphing water with an indicator on.

The run I was fishing wasn't more than a foot deep to begin. I took off the splitshot and tucked a cast as far under the tree limb i could and the fish moved a good distance to take the green weenie.

i was fishing above fishermans paradise today from around 3:30 to 6 and about the last hour there were fish jumping EVERYWHERE..i dont know what they were going after though..any ideas?

caught a couple on a BH green weenie, water was up a little and a tiny bit off color.
