Made my way up to Spring Creek for a few days starting on Sunday. I was interested in doing some fishing in the new section of Spring Creek Canyon(SCC). (more on that in the blog)
Started fishing Sunday afternoon and enjoyed a really pretty fall day. Sunny, no clouds and air temps in the upper 70's. The water was very clear runny at about 150 cfs. You couldn't ask for a better fall day!
There were some sporadic caddis coming off and many just hanging out in the bushes next to the stream. #18 BWO were coming off with a little more frequency out of the faster waters. This seemed to be the hatch patterns over the next couple of days.
Spent the days fishing with a Walts Worm and other nymphs. Had most of our luck nymphing in the faster water. No real fish coming up on the surface. We tried the BWO pattern late in the day with a little luck.
Monday there was similar conditions, but with some higher clouds rolling in during the afternoon. Spent the day in the Fly Fisherman's Paradise and below. The afternoon we went up to SCC.
Tuesday went back to the SCC and encountered a foggy morning. Seemed like more caddis and BWO showing up. I ended up bringing a few up on the #18 BWO by the parking lot before I left.
Nice trip. Stayed up a Sevens Mountain Campground and enjoyed a nice meal at the Red Horse.
