TIME: Fished from 8 am until 11:30 am.
WEATHER: Low 70's, mostly sunny.
WATER: Pretty usual for this time of year. But a bit more limestone murk. Temped at 59 degrees. Also, below the Paradise -- the cabins section -- it was so weedy, the water was pushed to the surface and was flowing faster so made it look higher than it was.
AREA FISHED: Started below Fisherman's Paradise. Finished just upstream from the Paradise
FISH CAUGHT: 6 browns, 1 rainbow
FLIES USED: Trico spinners, ants and grasshoppers
I first fished a couple deep runs below the Paradise with a wet ant. Picked up one brown and TONS of weeds. I decided to drive up and down Spring Creek Raod to see if I could see any tricos. None below the Paradise. Finally found them immediately above the Paradise over faster water. I waded into flat water below the riffles and immediately noticed a few rises. Tied on a black trico spinner (24) and cast to the nearest fish. Nothing. Two dozen casts later still NO interest. I switched to white body and BANG. Hooked 3 fish immediately. It's amazing how selective trout can sometimes be. The fishing was best from 10 to 11 am. After that the flies (and rises) were few and far between. Great morning. Incredible weather.
