Spring Creek Centre County 5/19/17

Fished spring creek yesterday. Drove around a little to see if anything was happening. Fished mainly at Shiloh Road. Risers appeared about 7 pm. The hatch was small olives, the same critters that had me perplexed on Cumberland Valley Streams. Fish at the breeches have been hitting BWO emergers and were refusing my larger patterns.

I finally used an emerger small enough to fool some trout at spring creek though. I landed 4 and missed several others. Lots of grumbling from other anglers. key was fishing the evening.

I was there yesterday as well. Slow fishing for most of the day until twilight....we saw the BWO's as well and managed a few fish. What we didn't see......Sulphers? I know that hatch seems to get later and later in the day, but I could could on one hand how many I actually saw. The same was true for the Little J on Friday. Strange.

Fish today, sulfurs showed up about 2 and lasted until 4:30. Hatch was decent at times. Fish turned on to the sulphurs but caddis were also around. Only landed 4 cookie cutters but missed a bunch more. Everything died about 5:30 so I left. Fished above Benner Springs
