Spring Creek Centre County 5/13 5/14

Fished all over Spring Creek the last two days it was pretty good! Water was stained but I loved it. Fish ate everything with more then I can count being caught.Top producers being pt's, tan fuzz on hook, and olive fuzz on a hook. Also saw nice sulphur hatches both days and some March Browns. Yes thats right Maccaffertium vicarium on Spring Creek I even found a fish that paid no attention what so ever to the sulphurs and was keying in on March Browns....he got caught lol.

So - you saw those march browns too. I thought I must be mistaken. It's the first time that I'd personally noticed them on Spring. I saw the duns floating by now and then- but they went untouched as far as I could see.

Those are so fine looking trout. Also thanks for the update, I didn't know spring had MB's, I'll have to start looking for them, my favorite hatch!

Nice pics and report. I was up there end of April and killed it on Spring, Little J, Big Fishing and Penn's.

I know that log jam and wire. Caught a lot of fish above and below the parking area just above that wire.

I had most luck with Lafontaine bubble pupae, but I also had some luck with bwo and paralep and midge nymphs as well an a 'ususal'.

Thats great news on the MB's! I've fished Spring for years, though less recently than historically. I've never encountered MB's. I know before the pollution incidents Spring had many more types of bugs than it does now. Perhaps its finally coming back a bit.

Let me say first Im not doubting your word, in all my years of fishing SC, I've never ran into a MB hatch. If you would, could you tell me what area did you see the the MB hatch.

I was below the Paradise in the pool right after the private water. I had never heard of MB's before on spring but I was told about a dam that was taken out down near bald eagle and it might have something to do with it.

We've been seeing March Brown/Grey Fox on Spring Creek for quite a few years. The first mention of them in my notes is in 2004. But I'm pretty sure I saw them earlier than that, probably by the late 90s.

I've never seen them in big numbers, just a smattering. But it's nice that there are some. You'll also see some Cahills.

Ther's a certain percent of every population that is genetically programmed to explore.

I'm sure that MB's from a stream has just migrated back to SC. It's not like it's that bad of a stream.

This phenonemom is why you see aquatic insects on your windows and live 5 miles from the nearest body of water.

That was me that put in the post to Steave at FFP about the MB's. I guess I've just been missing the few MB's, that come off on SC. alpa, thanks for the report, I'll keep my eye out for them from now on.
