Fished lower spring creek from 10am to 4 pm. First found a large pod of spawning suckers and was able to pick up several trout by drifting below them with sucker a spawn pattern. Also caught several very large suckers in the process which were also fun to reel in. Just before 3 pm some olives started to hatch and was able to catch 1 fish on a size 18 BWO emerger and 5 more on #18 parachute BWO. Fish were only rising in certain areas so had to walk around to find different pods of rising fish. They seemed to want to rise in the shadows since the sun was high and bright. Great day to be out now that the weather is finally turning. Good luck and take care.

Thanks for the post and nice brownies! I hope to get out somewhere this weekend to do some wild brown hunting myself. Good to hear that dries are becoming more active.

Spring Creek Browns... love em' !!

Congrats, what a nice day out. Staying on the move and finding rising trout sounds like the thought of the day.

Nice fish. Thanks for sharing. The weather is starting to get nice in Michigan and I'm chomping at the bit to get out. Also, I'm hoping to meet my dad and brothers in NC Pa later this spring for an extended weekend of fishing so I will keep my eyes on this site for reports.

Assuming you mean New Castle, I grew up there. Fished Neshannock, Slippery Rock, Big Run and Hickory creeks and many smaller streams without names. I understand the the once polluted Shenango River has made a come back and is fishable for species other than the ever present catfish.

Great times.

Thanks, I will be on Pine Creek and some other streams once the stocked season starts and will post some reports. Good Luck!!!
