High water was the story over most of the state for several days. I had a trip planned for several months to be up near Spring Creek for any months. Glad we went, but the previous week's rain still really put a damper on things. We went to Spring with the hope it was clear and lowered enough to get into some action.

We didn't get to Spring until mid-day. The weather has cold at about 37 degrees and snow flurries still happening all morning sometimes even during a mostly overcast day. The water had come down but was still running at around 190 CFS. It was clear we could have hoped and very wadeable for our section.

We did see a few rising fish, but nothing to speak about that gave us much hope. No real bugs happening with the cold, wind and clouds. We did stay long, but did hear afterward there was some success by a few others earlier in the morning. We stayed about 90 mins and took off for some brookie streams up further back in the mountains.

bugs didn't hatch on the lower river sunday, just too cold. I fished 9-12. Nymphed quite a few. I was too optimistic and didn't expect the weather to remain cold like it did. It was just one of those days. Bad timing Dave. Bugs came back in force this AM.

I figured they would be back on soon. Had to come home. I bet those caddies are there in force this week.
