As part of my trip to Central Pennsylvania last week we did make it to Spring Creek. We had been on another stream in the morning and the grannonms we off the chart. So Dave Allbaugh, Dave Rothrock and moved streams after lunch. We fished two sections from about 1pm to dusk.

Weather
I anticipated a good day with air temps in the upper 50's and cloud cover. The previous days we warm and even up to the 70's.

Stream
Water was clear for spring creek as it hadn't rained in a number of days. Water temps were running in the upper 50's if I recall. CFS was at ~100. DA that would be 2.4 feet for you 🙂

Hatch
So we had seen just an amazing amount a grannoms developing in the region. On our section of Spring, we saw a very good steady for the caddis all day long. At times it picked up and was almost as prolific as the morning. In the evening just before dusk it picked up again and was another blizzard of caddis.

Trout were rising in a similar way. We did a good section once we arrived and the trout were rising. Dave and Dave suggested a good section to start the afternoon as the trout were rising for me on top for several hours. Once we moved it was pretty slow until the hatch picked up again after 6:00 pm and then trout started rising again. We all caught fish on top and underneath. Proabably one of the best days dry fly fishing I've had in years.

The grannoms were covering the windshield on the way to the stream

Back at the house after the day

It was nice sharing the stream and enjoying the hospitality of Dave Allbaugh, Rick Nyles, and Dave Rothrock from Sky Blue Outfitters for the trip.

Too many Daves I tell yuh. Somebody oughta do something about 'em.

Nothin but trouble.
