After having finished all my schoolwork and responsibilities I had a little time to kill before I made the 3.5 hour drive back to Philly. I went to spring creek originally starting with the spinning rod but after i saw some trout sipping flys that wanted nothing to do with my plug I went back to the car and switched.
Water temp was in the low 40s. Air temps were in the 20s.
The trout were sipping very very very tiny flies, so tiny I could not see. The only thing I had that was similar was a little zelon midge but even that was bigger than what the trout were eating. Caught 10 in about 90 minutes. Saw a number of larger trout and some carp that could not be fooled. Biggest trout caught was only 12 inches.
Although nothing spectacular it was my first fish on drys and I honestly can't complain about dry fly fishing under such cold conditions.
BTW who ever gave the 6x tippet in the parking lot you are the man.
