Had a large section of Spring all to myself the afternoon of the 21st. Saw some surface action from 1-2pm, but not much. Nothing after 2pm. Nothing (sans a large sucker) was interested in the usually reliable #18 and 20 midge pupas/emergers so I went to something bigger. Landed a couple, including a brown that absolutely attacked a #12 walt's worm, no doubt the largest Spring Ck. trout I've managed in a few trips. #14 BH hare's ear also worked. Go with a #18 midge pupa in red if you're after the trophy suckers. Low and clear.
