Spring Creek Centre County 10-26-14

Well not alot of fish today but I did manage this nice rainbow.
Caught a couple others including a 12 inch rainbow. Saw a similar size fish in the pool i caught this one but was spooked after all the commotion from bringing this fish in. Not sure where the rainbows come from in upper Spring Creek as there is a small dam above the Benner Spring Hatchery. I am assuming this is a wild fish. The smaller rainbow I caught definitely was wild because the dorsal fin was large and had nice crisp fins. didn't get a picture as the fish released itself as I was removing the hook.

I went to Clarks yesterday. I hooked into a beast but my 4wt couldn't handle him and he threw the hook. First time I saw the backing LOL.

Which Clarks creek? Can't be the one I know.

Never even seen a fish that could put you in your backing on Clark's. Very interesting would love to hear the story al.

Back in the 80's, they did put some brutes in there. I've seen pellet heads 23-24" or bigger. Not many but their were some.

@Albud1962...I'd be willing to bet the trout that took you into your backing was a brown, and that it came up from Dehart. All I'm saying about that...

Likely. I saw one of those fish once in recent years. Probably would have taken my 8wt into the backing 😉

I was in the
Fly area. They stocked a few larger fish this year. Have yet to tangle with a Dehart Brown

Mystery of the upper Spring Creek Rainbows has been solved. Spoke with a local onSunday that indicated the rainbows are from a private stocking which is occurring between the Rock and Houserville. Fish commission has yet to address stocking of Class A waters by private entities
