Arrived about 9:30 at Milesburg. Grannoms started pouring off and continued to do so, starting at like 10:15 for about 20 minutes. Heavy grannom hatches don't always equate with great fishing and this was one of those times. I thought swinging, tight-lining and drifting grannom pupa would be met with strong takes. I hooked only 3. I started hunting risers in the softer water further up along the RR tracks. Did get a really nice brown on a CDC dry. Trout were eating the random grannoms on the surface for a while after the hatch.
Moved up above The Rock. (I thought I smelled something cooking.) There were a few grannoms fluttering around. Nice to see them there.
Caught several smallish-to-mid-sized browns in this water on sz. 18 olive nymphs. As I looked at them, they looked too green and shiny. I thought, "After decades of fishing these, why did I tie them this bright?" They worked, for these fish, anyway. No risers in the faster water up here, that I saw.
