Spring Creek, Centre Co. 4/10/09

Fishing Spring from about 11:00 -- 3:00.
Overcast all of the day and hoping for BWO's but none. The water was cold.
Most fish caught on midge larva.

They came before dark. Not many, but enough to get the fish consistently rising. Didn't expect the hatch that late, but the rain seemed to do the trick.

I was on Spring too, between paradise and 550, really very little happening until about 3pm, then there was a really intense BWO hatch. Fish rising and bugs all over the water for about 1.5 hours. Caught 7, long distance released half a doz, and misses most every other cast. I was with another guy and in the two pools we were fishing there had to be at least 30 trout rising. It was incredible. Then about 4:30 it shut down for us. So we headed back to the camper and drank bourbon. One great day.
