Took the drive to State College on Tuesday and fished the Benner Springs area of Spring Creek. The weather was great (60 egrees). The water was a little higher than normal and cold (32). Landed one 17" Brn. and two 12inchers. The Weather brought out a ton of guys. If you left the stream, you lost your spot. Probably 20 cars in the lot when I left around 1PM.

All in all, well worth the two hour drive.

Just curious on the water temp - did you mean 42 instead of 32? Even with snow melt, you'd have to have a ton of 32 degree water dumping into the creek to pull down the ambient groundwater temperature of 52 degrees, not to mention that 32 degrees is ice 🙂

Thanks for the clarification. I only have a few months under my belt of fishing that stream, so I'm trying to collect and build as much baseline data as I can. I was hoping 32 was an outlier, otherwise I wasn't sure how to reconcile that with my other winter time temperature data points, which are all 41-43 degrees.

I used to fish Spring a whole lot. Over 100 times per year at one point.

I've never seen temps below 40 on it. Bottoms out in the low 40's.
