I had been out to spring creek the last two weekends prior to this weekend and picked up a couple of fish each week, but the flows were low and the fish seem to be still in winter mode.
After checking the TCO stream conditions and seeing the stream was up, but coming back down I had to go out Sunday as the weather was holding up. On getting to the creek I was happy to see some clear water and lots of holding fish in all the expected places. I did not have a thermometer with me, but the air temperature was cold enough to keep me busy clearing the eyes of my rod of ice, the water temperature was not too bad for getting your hands wet in.
I was fishing with a size 14 caddis as my indicator and a 2-3ft 5x tippet to a size 16 scud I picked up about 9 fish to the net and lost a couple. Even got one on the dry, which is the first one for this year for me.
p.s. I hope the fishing picked up for the guys that I talked to before heading home.
