Here's the only valley brown I have handy. They do get much prettier.

Tom, I actually caught one there that looked damn close to JF's second Penns brown. He/she was way larger than average too. I had never seen one with that kind of spotting and coloration there.

I have also caught one similar to the second brown from JF in Valley. I also caught one there that was almost green on the sides, and one beautiful golden one with very many spots. All looked completely different but were caught within a 100 yd stretch. I'll post those in Sal's limestone v. Freestone topic when I have time. I saw one in Valley that looked about 12-13" and almost pitch black. too bad I didn't catch that one. I have a different stream that imo has the prettiest browns, but I'm keeping its name to myself🙂 Here's a typical one:

Jay I never said anyone was kncoking Penns what I said was please stay at spring I'll fish Penns.

I'll agree on the freestone browns being prettier than limestone browns. I'll take any wild brown, but to me, its hard to beat the colors of fish like this. Both from freestoners on very opposite sides of the state.
