Location: Upstream yellow gate on Szalay Rd, outside Beaverdale
Time: 1-4pm
Weather: Post cold front/breezy/partly sunny/mid 60's
Water Temp: 57 degrees Fahrenheight
Water Clarity: Clear
Water Level: Seemed average-but since this was 1st visit, nothing to base it on
Hatches: Some mixed mayfly and downwings, very light, saw a sulphur, small caddis, BWOs
Got lost initially trying to find it, but eventually it clicked and I was able to find the public access just outside Beaverdale. Very pretty mountain stream, a real change from upper midwest spring creeks that are now my "home" waters. Worked my way upstream, not quite a mile, til I came to another yellow gate with private property posting and no trespassing, so quit there.
Fished several pools along the way and found a mix of stocked brookies and possibly a few natives. #14 Royal Coachman dry did the trick on active risers, #18 Gold-Ribbed Hare's Ear got the nod from skulkers when fished tight to the bottom, connected on a few, released all of them.
