Hi all, i fished the south branch of Codorus yesterday in 2 locations with 2 mixes of fish.
Grainary Road: This location has a number of man made improvements that are good to fish. I fished from 11:00am till 2:00 pm the water was still very cool to my surprise but I have no thermometer. I landed 7 Rainbows and 1 brown and had at least 5 more hook-ups. All but 2 were caught on a red san-juan worm. The other 2 were on a bead-headed olive that i tie myself. I fished this streatch all spring from mid-april until early june with lots of fun with the stockies. I also fished in Feb & March and caught quite a few hold over browns. The fish on this trip were from 8 to 12 inches.
Twin Arches Road: I read a recomendation for this streatch here on the Forum, I fished from 2:30pm till 4:00pm. Landed 6 smallies biggest was 8 inches, hooked one larger but lost it. Most on a chartruse cone head streamer #6 Again my own creation. A few Warmouth on a black WB. Water temp here was much warmer.I had a lot of smallies give very weak hits and chases so I look for ward to fishing onemorning.
Last note Codorus Trophy section: i have fished 2x in past week and water is very cold but dam discharge fluctuates a lot! Tried terrestrials and WB with only a few hits. But the water felt grat in 90 degrees and it cooled my beer very nicely.
