You might only get one or two bites per day on those big glide baits, but they might be the biggest fish you've ever seen. I spend winter/early spring in upstate South Carolina and they're actually fairly popular with some of the tournament guys these days.

You'd be amazed at what they'll eat. I was Crappie fishing a couple of years ago. Caught a 10.5" Crappie (measured him later out of curiosity) and a BIG largemouth came up and engulfed the Crappie, taking it sideways in its mouth and the entire Crappie disappeared. I brought the largemouth right to the boat and to the net, but just as I was lying the net under his belly to scoop, he puked up the Crappie and let it go. Damn! My biggest largemouth before that was 6.75 pounds and this one was at least 10 and maybe 11 pounds (caught in South Carolina, so maybe not quite as big a deal as if it was taken in PA or NY, but still).

I've had that happen with bluegill multiple times. Pretty fun.

That rod was specifically built for long casts, which are important for fishing those lures in that particular lake. His consistent results speak to his technique. FWIW He has those lures custom made/weighted for a certain depth.

These will be used for Muskie mainly. Sometimes I’ll hook into a big smallmouth with the big flies and lures I use.

Here's a real good largemouth that a buddy caught in a local reservoir a number of years ago. That smile says it all.

LMB are a ton of fun on the fly, though those swim baits look like they produce extremely well. I like to take my jon boat out to Chambers or Marsh during the summer and chase them on the fly.

Been thinking of doing the same thing. I already have an airbrush but I lack the skill. I just use it for poppers mainly but I have some SP minnows with color patterns that I’ve never caught a thing on so I was thinking of doing a color change.

You are correct sir (do you remember when Ed McMahon used to say that to Johnny Carson?). The lake that I'm on is big (roughly 18,000 acres) and it does occasionally puke up a 10 or 11 pound largemouth, but even here they're very rare and there is a lot of fishing pressure on the lake including at least one bass tournament basically every weekend throughout the year and often several of them. I had a friend who came to visit a couple of years ago because he had never caught a 10-pound bass and wanted to, but I didn't have the heart to tell him that his odds were slim and none of catching one unless he really dedicated himself to it and spent a ton of time. Fishing really huge glide baits for many, many hours without a bite is one way to increase your odds, but even then, you're FAR more likely to catch or hook a 4, 5 or 6 pounder than a 10. And honestly, I'd probably consider my odds of catching a 5 pounder or even a 6 better on the lakes that I fish up north than here. Now, if you want to catch twenty 2-pound Spotted bass per day, this is your lake. But, like I said, they DO occasionally catch a real hammer here.

It was my first try at airbrush still got some learning. I know I was thinning the paint too much. Hey I’m sure the fish don’t care.

I’m a total rookie but a .5 tip helps with clogs as does using paints specifically designed for air brushes.

Got to fish a couple. The first day first cast of the big blue tiger lure I did. The second day first cast of the smallmouth lure. No Muskie.

Seems like these big lures work great for bass.
