Today was my first time on this water. I was expecting some dry fly action today, but it was not to be. Everyone I spoke to on the stream said they were having no luck outside the occasional chub. Since there was no surface activity, I started with nymphs. I moved on to streamers, again with no luck. Tried drys for a while unfruitfully. As I was walking back to my car after almost 3 hours without a trout it occured to me that I hadn't tried a San Juan Worm. I remembered Tim Murphy extolling the virtues of the Infamous Pink Worm, so I tied on a pink one. Bam, first cast I was into a 17 inch rainbow that jumped 6 times for me. I caught 2 more smaller bows in the next 10 minutes before I had to go.
Thanks Tim for saving the day!
