Slippery Rock Creek, Lawrence CTY, 6/16/11

Water was at a normal level for this time of year. Clarity was about normal too. Not really clear, not really dirty. Water was cool, but not like most people would like for trout fishing. It is mid June though.

Picked up 10" smallmouth on clousers pretty easily. Switched to nymphs in good looking pockets and runs and caught trout consistently. Fishing was pretty good all the way around.

Dodged som rain and I don't think we got enough to affect the creek.

I saw ya parked there! I went out monday evening, downstream at the gamelands, got some smallies and a real nice rainbow. caught the smallest smallie I've ever seen, maybe 2" long!!! what a lunker! also tried for some carp that were cruising around, but no luck with them. and yes, the water is very nice right now and I don't think the rain did anything, the ground is soaking it up pretty good right now.

It's been fishing good all month so far. I've been getting into a lot of good smallmouth action. Quite a few fish in the 3lb mark. At least a couple every outing. I'm back out of town for work again, but I was out on different parts of the creek at least 3 days a week since Memorial day weekend. There's a lot of trout especially if you're willing to hike. I've caught a few nice sized 14-16" stockies on poppers! My focus though is smallies. I still haven't picked up much of a bite pattern yet though. The mornings seem to be slow all around, but I've had some incredible afternoons; then turn around fish most all day; and not catch much till evening??? The water temp has been pretty consistent, so I've been watching other tell tail factors like moon phase, but I can't say I've come to any conclusions.
