Was up there this past weekend.
Water temp was warmer than it has been for the past couple months that I've been up.
I got skunked on 9/4. There were loads of trout standing in all the deep pools, they were very skittish though.
I stopped at the Slate Run fly shop on Saturday and the gentleman there said it's been tough with the high temps the past few weeks. I grabbed a couple slate drake nymphs(per his recommendation) and headed back out on Sunday and managed to tie into 2 very nice fish on the Slate Drake Nymphs. There will still many many trout all over the place.
I think the cooler temps upcoming will really help, and hopefully some rain because it's running fairly low.
Another thing noted from the past few months is the fish were hiding much more than the past few months. The previous few months they appeared to be standing in typical feeding patterns and at logical locations(to me). This past weekend they were under the ledges, under rocks, etc.
I did see a gent tie into a really nice trout below the Pine Creek/Slate Run confluence while sitting on the Hotel Manor deck.
If you're up that way, and trout are skunking you the walleye and smallies hit great all weekend on streamers on my 5/6.
