Slate Run & Pine Creek, Lycoming Co., 10/11/15

Just got back from a weekend in the Slate Run/Pine Ck area.

Water temps . 54-57F
Water Level/Clarity/Flow. Excellent does not get much better!!
Hatches. Caddis, Caddis, Caddis. did not really see the real big Oct. caddis, there were many of the cinnamon/light brownish size 14.
other bugs also did not identify.
Weather. Mostly clear up to 65ish during the day.
Hooked fish mostly using a size 14 PTNymph and 14 GRHE nymph.

Fall foliage just starting to peak should be good for maybe 2 more weeks without leaves falling into stream and being a nuisance.

Any rising fish

the trout were not really rising so to speak.
I observed them actually coming fully out of the water and of course back in.
They did not make a sound while doing this.
If I did not actually see this happen I would not have known it was happening.
Other words they were not slapping and splashing at the surface.

Yes I was fishing Slate Run and Pine Ck. Special Reg. area in the town of Slate Run. Moderator changed location for some reason.

I changed the title line block to reflect the format we request in the Stream Reports forum:

Stream Name, County, Date

In this particular case, since "Slate Run" can mean both a town and a stream, and "Pine Creek Area" can mean a stream or a region... some confusion ensued. Not a big deal. Normally we ask that stream reports reflect one body of water and one date, but there is some flexibility here so I have made another edit so the report reflects both waterways.

Just because you don't see them rising on the Pine doesn't mean numbers can't be caught fishing dry flies blind. I did very well in July fishing an Isonychia Comparadun with and Isonychia wet fly trailer just below the surface. It can be that way for other species of bugs throughout the year as well.
