Took my nine year old with me for the first time.
6/18 Fishing was slow during the day. Weather was hot - upper 80s.
We fished Slate Run with no luck.
Water level really low. Not much in terms of a hatch going on, but then again we weren't on the stream at evening so maybe it was different then. We still enjoyed the scenery and climbing up the waterfall near the Manor. Didn't see anything rising at all.
Headed to up to Blackwell and tried our luck on Pine.
Water level low on Pine as well.
Got there a little late. Very sporadic hatches coming off. Saw a couple sulphurs and some smaller flies I couldn't identify.
Got one 12 inch rainbow on a coachman stimulator.
Stayed at the Black Forest Inn. Nice place, a little cheaper but not right on the creek. Usually try to stay at Cedar Run Inn but they were booked. The Manor Hotel has good food but rooms are small and slightly pricey for there. Of course, you can't beat the location.

Tried Cedar Run during the morning. Again no luck on the runs.
Only saw one fish rising. Switched up to a nymph and still no luck.
After lunch we headed back to Blackwell and saw some surface activity. Got a nice fat brown about 13 inches on a green drake.
Shook another and missed a few more. Hiked further down stream
and my son landed a 9 inch minnow! Thought for sure it was a trout.
As evening hit, the fun started. Not quite sure what was hatching but trout started jumping around 7, 7:30. We fished until dark and got a couple more, including a 12 inch brook trout. Lots of hits and misses.
I was hoping we would catch a glimpse of the eagles by Blackwell but we didn't.
Nonetheless, I think I may have helped fan the fishing flame in my little buddy.
