You only get skunked for any combination of the following three reasons:

A - you haven’t fished recently enough to maintain currency in your chosen discipline

2 - habitat degradation and poor fisheries management has led to a drastic decline in fish numbers and overall angling experience in your chosen waterway

D - you have no idea what you are doing

In my case it’s usually a combination of all three

Less than ideal (too cold) stream temps have given me my worst results, numbers wise, than any other factor, or combination of factors. YMMV

I had days when I thought I would be lucky to catch 2 and grabbed a couple dozen on top. Then I went with great anticipation and i touched 2 fish.

Went to Letort just to know I wasn't going catch one and blamed it on the stream....

I’ve been out only a total of four days, which is a low number for me. I’m skunked so far, I usually have 100 fish or more by now. I’m going to camp for 5 days and fully expect to end the skunk.
Thankfully the water is up, the hatches should be good. It’s not like me to be skunked this long but my fishing has slowed down as I slowly age. I’m here and don’t plan on quitting soon. I’ll let you know how fishing is.
