Shenango River, Mercer County, 9/22/12

Its been a while but finally home and got to fish the Shenango River right below the dam in Sharpsville today. went from around 10am-6pm right before the storms rolled through. Great fishing today...mostly panfish as seen from the photos but these guys have definitely been eating their wheaties...nice sized and decent fighters

forgot to mention what flys i used...the first fish i caught i actually didnt get a picture of but it was another black crappy like picture 2...that and the first bluegill shown were caught with a white zonker....the rest were caught with a variation of black and brown woolly buggers

Some nice bluegills there. The autumn months are among the best for WW fish and many anglers overlook 'em in Sept/Oct since there's so much else to do.

Nice report. I was there last Saturday and the bass fishing reallllly slowed down. I was also hoping to get a few more carp on the fly this year but the cold weather has most of them in deeper water now. Fish with streamers and you might get a few white bass or hybrids, they're a blast on the fly there. That stretch from the dam to the bridge is a fantastic fishery for everything, my record there I think is 8 species in a day.
