Rain held off and the day was generally overcast. The rain helped the Brookie streams above the dam but the water was still pretty clear. Below the dam the river was running 120 CFS. They are still releasing at that level. I fished with Charlie and Mike at Savage River Outfitters to get some fishing tips and casting advice. Both guys are great and I recommend stopping into their shop as it's right on the river. Charlie took me to one of upper river's tributaries. We caught some nice brookies and went back to the shop for lunch. Used a yellow stimulator. After lunch I spent some time with Mike right by the shop. Mike gave me some good technical information. The savage has many big browns but they aren't push overs. This day the browns ending up winning 6 to 1 ( if only Cleveland played that we'll). Got to fish Mike's Helios. I wish I could spend the money for one as it has a good feel. Overall a good trip with two good guys. The sulfurs are on the water and fish are keyed in. Green Drakes were coming off the upper river with some little yellow sallies.
