I fished today from 11:30AM to 3:30PM. I fished below Saucon Park, and I had the entire stream to my self, which was great. there were a few large Sulfurs hatching, but I only saw a handful of rises all afternoon. Because the Sulfurs are still hatching, I decided to fish beadhead pheasant tail nymphs. It turned out to be a good decision. I ended up hooking over ten fish, and I landed seven of those fish. The first fish a caught was a stocked rainbow, which was a surprise because the section I fished isn't stocked. The fish must have either swam up or down from the stocked sections. I fished this same section back in March and only caught one small brown. I was worried that this stream is having the same problems that the Little Lehigh is having. Today proved those fears to be unwarranted. This stream looks to have a good population of wild brown trout of all sizes.

I fished the Saucon about two weeks ago with sulphur nymphs and did well. The stream is rebounding. Anyone interested in the stream might take a look at the thread in the PAFlyfish General Forum about the proposal to allow bait fishing, establish a hatchery, and stock the trophy area. It appears we have a good chance to stop this proposal with letters to the PA fish commissioners.
