As many of you know my job takes me to the west coast every other month or so and I make it a point to fish as often as I can out here, since I have to come out here for work anyway. 🙂

Got out for an entire day yesterday. Weather was gorgeous, 75 and sunny, very few clouds in the sky. Got on the water about 8AM and finished up about 4PM. I don't have a thermometer out here with me but my leak in my waders told me the water was plenty cold! The first hour and a half or so was dry dropper, with the pink SJ as my dropper. They were not interested in the dry early on and got several fish on the dropper. After about 10 or so, the dry was the ticket which I was happy to see because this stream takes precision casting in several stretches and that's just not easy with the dropper. The fishing was not nearly as good as I've seen it but I'm thinking it is still a bit early in the season. My next trip out in late June should be a hot time. There is probably 15 to 20 miles of water to fish but not all of it is easily accessible by car so I generally stick to the spots that are accessible although this time I tried to fish new stretches and I found some nice water to get back to.

All in all a very good day, not sure of how many fish but most were browns and 2 rainbow, as well. They stock this stretch with rainbow and both may have been stocked fish but as you can see in the pictures below, one was mighty small to have been stocked. Have to talk to my local guy to see if he has heard about any natural reproduction of rainbow up there.

Enjoy the pictures. I tried to get a mix of fish, stream and scenery.

Love it Fox! Every time I see your posts from CA, I wish I had made it up that way when I was in Laguna in December. Fishing the surf was a cool experience, but this kind of fishing is more appealing to me. Thanks for sharing!
