After seeing the pics culmer put up on Sand Run I decided to try it while up there this past weekend. Stopped into Big Meadows Fly Shop to talk to Sandfly fo awhile and see if he knew where to access it since I went and left my Delorme map at home.
I parked at the upper end but only hiked in about 1/2 miles and started fishing there. It was 3 miles to the falls. The water was low but where I started looked like it was where the stream started to get good. More water, deeper pools ect.
Caught a wild brown of about 8". next fish was a wild brookie pushing 13". wasn't sure how he was surviving in that little stream. next fish was a wild brown about the same size. That's where my wife was talking about how the wild fish were of decent size. Even she was surprised. last fish of the day was a wild brookie about 7".
Next time I plan to park off the road across from where Sand enters Babb Creek and hike up past the falls to where I stopped and fish the 1 3/4 miles back to the car. Fishing back to the car is so much nicer!
