It all sounds nice but Shapiro is looking at dollar signs and nothing more. He could care less about the welfare of Spring Creek, the canyon, preserving Ag lands etc. etc. If you took all of the movers and shakers in the Centre Region and the intervalley region i.e. the county officials and local government officials, the banking community, the large real estate developers etc. etc. and put them in one big room, you'd be lucky to find a half dozen people who actually give a #^&?! about the welfare of Spring creek.

Do you have a source that says Gov. Shapiro is personally involved in this situation and some facts that back up your statement that he "is looking at dollar signs and nothing more".

I'm not saying you are right or wrong, but I would like to read up on this if it is the case.

not saying Shapiro's motivation is what was expressed in bugs' post, but i read comments from Shapiro and other lawmakers about selling the land. The biggest bang for the buck would be housing or industry since it is situated between State College and Bellefonte and not far from I99. But selling does not mean to these entities for development. Truly, they are mostly eyeing the savings from not having to renovate and do maintenance on the outdated building. Doubt its motivated by a "cash grab" as suggested.

Yeah why would anyone ever consider giving it to the public lands it connects to on the opposite side when we can sell it for what amounts to pocket change to the developer to put in more car dealerships.

How long until they shut down the gamelands because it's too close to this development?
 
Benner pike is almost unrecognizable to 10 years ago. We got 2 grocery stores, a few fast food joints, warehouse, hotels, and a car dealership. I hope much of the undeveloped prison land stays that way and is conveyed to PGC or DCNR.
 
Shapiro is running for reelection in 2026 has been busy the last year cross-crossing the state and professing his direct involvement in securing every feel-good/good for you project out there.

Just the other day he was telling Philly folks he was responsible for a 30 million dollar plan to improve the traffic situation around South Philadelphia Sports Complex and he was in West Reading promising $$$ for the renovation of Penn Avenue.

It's an election year folks, take everything said with a MONSTROUS grain of pandering salt...

Shapiro’s administration has not divulged any plans for the property, except that some of the land will remain with the DOC for next-door Benner Township state prison.
