Ridley Creek/Pickering Creek

Hit Ridley Sat. and the water was cold!!I started at the "mud hole" ,the ice left only a channel in the middle of the creek.I never saw so many feeding trout in winter in my life.They look like bass hitting topwater!! I caught a bunch on a #18 bwo all rainbows,moved up and got 1 on a glo egg.
Fished pickering creek on sun,caught 2 on #18 black stonefly nymphs.A very enjoyable weekend.

Hey Mike,

Could you give some insight on how to get to Ridley creek, specifically mud hole, from collegeville, PA? Looking for new streams and itching to cast some dries in the winter. I'm catching cabin fever. Also, does ridley support trout in the winter or are the trout you caughtleft over from a fall stocking?

As far as I know the trout are all stocked, I dont think Ridley holds a native population.

As far as getting there from Collegeville, 422E to 76E, to 476S to the Baltimore pike exit (4th exit on 476) bare right on the exit and follow to ridley creek road, which will be on tour right hand side. Baltimore Pike will take you through Media and as you leave the town you come down a hill, Ridley Creek rd is at the bottom of this hill. If you see the Granite Run mall you have gone to far.

Ridley Creek supports a small population of reproducing brown trout. 99.9% of the fish caught there are stocked. TU stocked in November. Still tons of fish. If rumors are tru the damn could come down in the near future and this would definately help the stream support repro and holdovers.

From what I have been told at one of the tu meetings is that they probally won't tear it down but they aren't going to repair it if it falls down which it could go during any big storm ,The dam has alot leaks in it right now . So basicaly stand by to stand by ...... :-o

Looks like bob's directions are right on,however when you come to a point on ridley creek rd where you have to turn right or left GO LEFT,you can also obtain a map of the entire park at Ridley Creek state park's web site.The Sporting Gentlemen is a local fly shop{listed on this site}that has a map of the fly stretch with some acutal photos.Hope this helps.
