Had an awesome day in the FF only section.
Lost count of how many fish I had caught, easily over 10. Mostly rainbows, and a few browns.
It was unusually warm, with rain the day before and light rain in the morning, and the fish were fairly active and feeding readily. Low 60's and WINDY. Did not take a water temp, but quite cold.
Midges and scuds were the meal ticket. Occasional rises to adult midges.
Little story... I had a beast come up and hit my strike indicator. UGH, right?!
Usually when this happens, you curse to yourself for the rest of the day, and go home thinking, "if only I used a darn *yellow foam ball fly* in place of my yellow foam indicator... stupid"
Today was different. A couple seconds after the fish rose to my indicator, it circled back and took my nymph!
I didn't measure it on site, but I approximate the fish between 18" and 20" by measuring my arm to my elbow when I got home (provided by his tail curved at my elbow, and head extending past my fingers in the one photo). Thankfully, it did not take the fly on my 6x dropper!
