Reel information

Hey everyone
I originally posted this in the wrong place so please excuse the duplicate
I got my late father's fly reels out this evening and really can't find much info on them but am curious of age.
I am going to clean them up good since i am certain they haven't seen water in atleast 20 years but Both seem to be working perfectly!
Any information about these 2 reels would be more than appreciated..

There is a guy who has a YouTube video about the Pfluger Medalist Lefty Kreh had. If you put Pfluger Medalist into your browser it should come up. I have a Martin reel that I bought at a K Mart around 1991. I was even able to buy an extra spool for it but I’m not sure if they are still in business. They may be part of Cortland. Your Martin seems newer than what mine is.

Presumably you mean with the frame cut away to allow finger pressure to be applied to the back of the spool.

Eventually, in the 1980s, Shakespeare (who then owned Pflueger) addressed this by creating the 159xRC spools, which are Rim Control.

That's what RH has, noted by the spool that covers the reel cage so you can press your palm against it for additional drag. 159xRC spools also all have a built in counterweight.

That's one of my 1495 reels. It's probably my main reel at this point and has been with me through PA, the Atlantic coast, and the Gulf coast. I'm still waiting to actually *need* the finger pad.
