“Hope you ground water geeks are happy now” Quote of the yearWent up to the Delaware on Sunday
Met a friend in the game land, and we had a nice - but very soggy - afternoon there.
Catching fish on BWO's, apple caddis, and just a few on Hendricksons.
Next morning the flow had jumped up from 600 CFS to 4000.
That's the 2nd time this year that I went up there, had one good day, and blown out the next.
Maybe I jinx the place now.
Anyway, I started back home through Bellefonte and Tyrone today.
Everything - even small streams - is high and brown.
So bad, that I decided to just come back home.
And work on spring chores the next few days.
Hope you ground water geeks are happy now
I’m headed to the area tomorrow. I’m a glass half full guy and it appears this latest batch of rain has shifted just south. Maybe a quarter inch of rain but not enough to blow out the streams worse than they are. Penns is toast still but I bet Spring will actually fish pretty well this weekend.I'm up near State College this weekend and arrived as a flash flood warning was in effect...sigh. Seems like some more rain may come in overnight. Does anyone know of a resource for the big streams around here and how fishable they are up to a certain gauge height or cfs level? Trying to figure out what my plan of attack should be.
Rained again last night. The streams up this way and especially the bigger waters, have been wreaked for 8 days now. I hope you're happy. If I see another freaking thread "We Need Rain" I'm gonna lose my mind. Penns went back up last night to 2100 cfs. My backup backup plans are now muddy and high.Pretty happy. Little more couldn't hurt
But we don't need more rain now. while the weather is still coolConvenient or not for our fishing desires, we need the rain we're getting.
We need the rain when we can get it. Many areas are experiencing drought conditions NOW.But we don't need more rain now. while the weather is still cool
And it blows out hatches that only come one week of the year.
Lets have it in July, when its needed
Maybe, if you're hatch dependent. IMO, the best weeks of trout fishing are still ahead of us. I much prefer late May, June, July, and August for my best fishing. All of our streams are blown for 2 of the best weeks of fishing of the entire year.
Last year, heavy rain sent the Little J practically into flood stage early aprilWe need the rain when we can get it. Many areas are experiencing drought conditions NOW.
Depends on your fishing styleCorrection: the NEXT two weeks will be the best fishing of the entire year 🙂
