Quittie, Lebanon County 12-14-12 AM

Fished the Quittie today. I arrived at the Quittie Nature Park at 8:30 AM. Temp was in the mid 30's. I forgot to take a stream temp...sorry. The water was clear and running at a normal flow rate.

I didn't catch any fish until I was just downstream of the wood walking bridge. I caught one sucker in that large pool. Upstream of the bridge I caught a nice brown in the straight stretch and the one rainbow at the next bend. I didn't see many fish at all. Stopped at noon. As I was leaving I was told that it has not been stocked since mid July. Don't know if it's true or not. It was just great to get out fishing again.

All fish were caught on a size 14 Pheasant Tail nymph with no bead.

I don't know who would have stocked it in July, maybe a club? However it was on the PFBC schedule for October 11th.

Good to hear a report of some fish being caught in the Quittie. The NP in Annville got tore up pretty good during the floods from the tropical cyclones last Fall. I've only fished it once since then and was skunked, although I did have a very nice fish on momentarily before it shook free. That's a definitely a "what could be" type of stream.

Even if it was stocked with Bows by the PFBC in October (as the stocking list indicates), that Brown has been in there at least since this years Spring stockings. Definitely potential here.

I love it when I'm told a stream hasn't been stocked, that mean the truck chasers haven't been fishing there. But july? PFBC may have put some fish in if they had extra fish they sometimes plant them in water that stays within trouts comfort zone.

A local club supplements the PFBC stockings throughout the year.
The stream was stocked in October by the PFBC & probably at least once since then by the club. During PFBC stocking in October they stocked below the walking bridge in the NP and at the start of the project on Spruce St. Stream conditions at that time were crystal clear and very low.

Caught this guy in the real fast water below the walking bridge last spring on a caddis pupa. Think he was a holdover. Blind in one eye (maybe that's why he ate my fly!)

For being blind in one eye, he doesn't look like he's missing too many meals. Very nice fish.

There were several summer stockings in the area including Clark's Creek. The Quittie may have received some fish during this time as well.

The quitty had a fall stocking some small fish. I don't think there is many fish left in it it gets poached in the park area. That being said I always catch a couple there. I think I may have caught that brown earlier. Upstream of bridge, about 18-19". I live less than 2 min away so I get to fish it quite a bit. The flood sure changed that stream. Lost a few nice holes.

the park gets poached like you wouldn't believe. i don't fish it often, but i do stop by and walk it frequently. almost every time there are people how are or whom i'm fairly certain are poaching.
