Quittie, Lebanon County, 10/15/2010

After every rain there are fold up chairs, plastic bottles, just garbage all along the DHALO section. I've picked up stuff in the parking lot but a crew needs to go through there. Other than summer, I believe think that stream could be a gem.

The trash is the result of careless property owners in Annville who leave stuff out on the floodplain in their back yards during high water.

I see that on a few other SEPA streams too. It's unfortunate, but they do grant access...

A good amount of that trash comes from Lebanon City. Just above the city the trash along the stream banks is out of control.

I saw that when I was up there last year. The amount of trash collected in the strainers along the banks was simple incredible. The nature park was beautiful, but the trash certainly fouled the water a bit. Hard to believe that stream survives being downstream of Lepnun!

Here's a thread that was going a year or so ago. Unfortunately, it appears as though I deleted the pictures of the hosting server.

I think it's Monroe Valley, Tom. That's the Swatara Creek, not the Quittie.
