Pretty cool bug

I found this critter on the sidewalk outside of my back door this morning. Initially I thought it was a big Hexegenia. Nope, those are definitely not mayfly wings. Then my thoughts went to a big Cranefly. Nope, the head looks a bee? I finally used AI to identify the photo for me and it told me to look up Megaryssa Macrurus - common name the long tailed giant ichneumon wasp. I looked it up and that is most certainly what it was. Never even heard of it before this morning. Cool bug!!

Found one years ago on a small stream. Was almost blue at the time. Giant Ichneumon Wasp. Scared me until I got better eyes on it.
