Water levels were right about 3.00 at the Hancock gage which usually makes for excellent wading in the upper Potomac. Didn't get a water or air temp but I'd guess they were about 80 and 85 degrees respectively when I arrived at about 6pm after this hot, sunny day. Water was clear and, when at these low stages, larger mid river boulders become accessible to the wading angler. I could see at least two other fishermen from where I was. Anyway, I didn't cover a lot of water as Benny doesn't get around as well as he used to. The fishing was slow - got a few small bass on Clousers and poppers. High sticking a helgrammite nymph usually works well for me in this sort of pocket water but the bass weren't impressed. The catties, however, liked the dead drift nymph this evening. There were white flies at dusk but no significant surface activity. Nice evening.

The only time I fished the potomac was at Hancock.
Stopped on the access road to ask if I could park at the end of their driveway.The farmers daughter said yeah.Sometimes those stories are true.
Did fish for a while.About 50 years ago So doubt if she's still sitting on the porch.
