Time fished: 05:30-11:00

Weather: temps rising from low 70s up to high 80s. Light cloud cover and slight breeze.

Water: I don't have a CFS, but the river was low and slightly stained. Good summer level and the temps were in the low to mid 80s

Techniques: slapped some poppers on the banks and dredged with crawfish and minnow imitations.

Results: The summer bite is turning on. We moved about a dozen smallies with two fish up above 15 inches. A couple sunfish came to hand and I rolled a big cat. We approached a deep wooded section and I told my buddy that it looks like good musky water. Sure enough, I hooked a 10 inch smallie on the bank and Mr Toothy showed up and tried to eat him. I will be ready with a musky streamer next drift through there.

thanks for the report - we drove by Harpers Ferry yesterday and the river was low but crystal clear. I thought the bite would be good.

Nice!...and very impressive with a 3wt7X.. ;-)

Glad to see more guys enjoying the summer, fishing for smallies and other WW fish.

It sure is great to be out catching bronze backs, so long as you are off the water before it gets too hot and you bring plenty of water.

Here are some pics from the trip.
