Went over to the Potomac at Taylors Landing near Sharpsberg yesterday afternoon with my son in law. We put in and motored upriver thru very clear, grassy, low water. Pulled the boat over some ledges and beat rocks with the propeller. We wade fished some ledges with water about 4 feet deep between them and picked up five or six smallies from 8 to 13 inches on a brown and orange cystral bugger. We then went upriver to the rapids below Dam 4 and put down anchor. I made a swing cast into the fast water and hooked what felt like a nice fish. Let me tell you, a six or seven pound catfish can bust your knuckles when it makes a run on a five weight. We then drifted down river and picked up a few more bass. There were a few small white may flies coming off, but no surface activity. Saw lots of geese and a bald eagle. A great day to be out.
