Pohopoco creek below Beltsville / Carbon County / 10-31-18

Water was a little cloudy and cold but fish were rising. I saw some small white bugs hitting the surface so gave a Griffith Gnat a try. When I could cast to a riser I could get them to take and most were in the 1st set of slack water after the output from the dam. Was a great day to be out and nice to get a few topside.

And yes, my hands were wet and all fish were released to fight another day.

Gorgeous fish! Does the Poho support wild trout or are they holdovers from the spring stocking? I still can’t decipher when looking at a fish unless it’s painfully obvious.

It holds wild and stocked trout. Rule of thumb for me is most rainbows are stocked and most browns are wild. It gets stocked once every year for the opener but thats it. Holds quite a few trout but they can be picky as hell on some days. I have had 10 fish days and 0 fish days so you just never know out there. Also if you go above the lake they are all wild and it is a special regs area. You just need to find the best access as a lot is private land.
